Day-by-Day Itinerary

  1. You are met on arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to your lodge in Arusha. Your guide joins you for a full safari briefing, and the rest of the day is yours to rest and adjust after your flight.

  2. A day on Kilimanjaro, walking pole pole — slowly — as the vegetation thins from rainforest into moorland and alpine desert. Your mountain crew handles camp, meals and daily health checks while you focus on acclimatising.

  8. We drive through Maasai grazing land to Tarangire National Park, a landscape of enormous baobabs and a permanent river that draws great herds of elephant. Game drives follow the river valley, with excellent chances of lion, giraffe and a remarkable variety of birds.

  10. The Serengeti opens out in front of you: short-grass plains, granite kopjes and horizon in every direction. We spend the day tracking predators and plains game with your guide, pausing for a picnic lunch in the shade before the light softens into a golden afternoon drive.

  12. We descend more than 600 metres onto the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater, a contained world of grassland, forest and soda lake. The density of wildlife here is extraordinary — lion, elephant, buffalo, hippo and flamingo, with a genuine chance of black rhino.

  13. You fly to Zanzibar and transfer to your beach hotel. Days here are yours to shape: reef snorkelling, a spice farm visit, a walk through Stone Town's carved doorways, or nothing more demanding than the shade of a palm.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, and it is the order we recommend. Safari days are restful compared with the mountain, and Zanzibar afterwards gives your body time to recover.
