What to Pack for a Tanzania Safari (and What to Leave Behind)
Safari packing is mostly about layers, soft bags and resisting the urge to bring everything you own.

Guests are almost always surprised by two things: how cold a 6am game drive is, and how little they actually needed.
Clothing
Neutral colours, three or four changes, and layers you can shed as the day warms. A fleece and a windproof jacket are essential for early drives. Avoid dark blue and black, which attract tsetse flies.
Bags
Soft duffels are required on light-aircraft flights, usually with a 15 kg limit including hand luggage. Laundry is available at most camps, so pack less than you think.
Worth bringing
Binoculars, a spare camera battery, a wide-brimmed hat, high-factor sunscreen, insect repellent, a head torch and any personal medication in its original packaging.
